Carlos Alcaraz has officially qualified for the Nitto ATP Finals in Turin, becoming the third player to secure a place behind Jannik Sinner and Alexander Zverev. The Spaniard earns his fifth consecutive appearance at the season-ending championship through the Grand Slam winner rule, which guarantees a Finals berth to any major champion who finishes inside the top 20 of the PIF ATP Live Race To Turin.
Despite sitting fourth in the Race behind Ben Shelton, Sinner and Zverev, Alcaraz is mathematically certain of a top-20 finish. His current tally of 4,050 points puts him well clear of 20th-placed Jiri Lehecka, who has 1,855 points, meaning the 23-year-old cannot drop below the threshold regardless of results for the rest of the season.
The qualification caps a season that has been hampered by a wrist injury which kept Alcaraz off tour for more than five months. Even so, he has posted a 26-4 record with two titles — the Australian Open, where he completed the Career Grand Slam, and Doha — and a run to the Monte-Carlo Masters 1000 final. Most recently he reached the US Open quarter-finals, where Shelton needed a fifth-set tie-break to eliminate him.
