Enea Bastianini has officially signed a two-year deal with the Trackhouse Aprilia MotoGP team, confirming one of the worst-kept secrets in the paddock ahead of this weekend's Aragon Grand Prix.
The Italian, a former Moto2 world champion and seven-time MotoGP race winner, will partner Raul Fernandez at the American-owned satellite team for the 2027 and 2028 seasons. He replaces Ai Ogura, who confirmed earlier this year that he will move to the factory Yamaha squad alongside Jorge Martin.
"I am extremely excited to join the SuperFile Trackhouse MotoGP Team for the next two MotoGP Championships," Bastianini said in a team statement. "Starting from the test in Valencia this year, it is going to be a real new challenge for me as we are entering a new era with a new bike, new tyres and new regulations."
The 26-year-old added that he was "happy to bring my experience and my fighting spirit to Trackhouse so that we can develop the new Aprilia RS-GP together."
Trackhouse owner Justin Marks confirmed the signing in a video published on the team's social media channels, running through Bastianini's career highlights before formally offering him the seat. Tech3 KTM also released a statement thanking Bastianini for his two seasons with the team.
Bastianini's move brings to an end a difficult spell at Tech3 KTM, where he managed just a single podium finish in a season and a half. After an impressive 2023 campaign with the factory Ducati squad — in which he finished fourth in the riders' championship — Bastianini dropped to 14th with Tech3 in 2025.
Reports suggest the Italian had accepted Trackhouse's offer as early as May, though the announcement was held until now. The timing, ahead of the Aragon weekend, allows Bastianini to focus on his final months with Tech3 before making the switch.
The signing strengthens Trackhouse's 2027 lineup considerably. Fernandez has been one of the standout performers of the 2026 season, winning two grands prix, and Bastianini brings proven race-winning pedigree and experience from both factory and satellite setups.
The move also has implications for the 2027 regulations reset, with all manufacturers developing new bikes under significantly revised technical rules. Bastianini acknowledged the challenge of adapting to a new machine, team and regulatory framework simultaneously.
Trackhouse, which entered MotoGP in 2024 as the successor to the RNF Aprilia operation, has rapidly established itself as a competitive force. The team's growth under Marks' ownership has been one of the paddock's success stories, and the addition of Bastianini underlines its ambitions for the new era.
