Caitlin Clark enjoyed an unforgettable WNBA All-Star weekend in Chicago, starting with a meeting with former President Barack Obama and ending with a stellar performance in her first traditional All-Star Game.
Clark scored her team's first eight points, getting a steal for a layup and then hitting one of her trademark deep three-pointers. Minutes later she nailed an even deeper shot that would have been worth four points under last year's experimental format.
"Any time you get to put on a uniform and play an All-Star Game is really special," Clark said. "It's really a unique experience for myself as I never really got to play in a true All-Star Game before."
The Indiana Fever star missed last year's All-Star Game in Indianapolis due to injury. Her 2024 rookie season featured a different format with the U.S. Olympic team playing the WNBA All-Stars.
The highlight of the weekend was meeting Barack Obama at his Presidential Center. "My hands were sweaty and clammy when I met him," Clark admitted. She asked the former president for a photo — the same question posed to her countless times daily. Obama told her to "don't lose the joy."
Between sponsor events with Nike, State Farm, and Wilson — where she unveiled her new line of basketballs — Clark drew hundreds of fans of all ages wearing her No. 22 jersey, lining up for autographs or even just a glimpse of the superstar.
Playing in front of a record All-Star crowd of 19,783 at the United Center, Clark helped Team Spoon secure a 129-122 victory over Team Cooper.
Now it's back to regular season action as the Fever play in Seattle on Tuesday.
