Jonas Vingegaard has written an indelible page in world cycling history by winning the 2026 Giro d'Italia and becoming the eighth rider of all time to complete the prestigious Giro-Tour-Vuelta triple crown. The Danish superstar of Visma-Lease a Bike closed out the Corsa Rosa with a margin of 5 minutes and 22 seconds over Austria's Felix Gall, capping off three weeks of absolute domination.
The final stage, a 131-kilometer processional loop starting and finishing in the stunning setting of Rome, saw Jonathan Milan take the bunch sprint, while Vingegaard was able to savor his triumph worry-free, lifting the Trofeo Senza Fine against the backdrop of the Capital's monuments. For the 29-year-old Scandinavian, it's a fifth Grand Tour title after his two Tour de France yellow jerseys, and the Italian victory places him in an ultra-exclusive club alongside legends like Eddy Merckx, Bernard Hinault, and Vincenzo Nibali.
"Winning all three Grand Tours is something very special for me," Vingegaard told Italian broadcaster RAI. "It's difficult to find the words to describe it." The Dane dominated the race with five stage wins, taking the pink jersey as early as stage 14 and never relinquishing it all the way to Rome. The numbers confirm an overwhelming superiority, aided by the absence of great rival Tadej Pogačar, who chose to focus entirely on the Tour de France.
