China's Guo Hanyu and France's Kristina Mladenovic outclassed second seeds Gabriela Dabrowski and Luisa Stefani 6-3 7-5 to win the Wimbledon women's doubles title on Sunday, sealing their first major triumph as a pair.
The 10th seeds read Dabrowski's early lobs brilliantly and raced to a 5-0 lead. The Canadian-Brazilian duo of Dabrowski and Stefani fought back to take three straight games, but it was not enough to rescue the opening set.
The second seeds looked far more at ease as they pressed for a break in the second set, yet their opponents saved two break points as Mladenovic's booming forehands kept the match level at 5-5. Guo's backhand returns from the net earned a break point in the 11th game, which the 28-year-old Chinese player, competing in her first major final, converted with a sharply angled cross-court backhand.
