Inter have completed the signing of England international Djed Spence from Tottenham Hotspur, the Serie A club announced on Saturday. The 26-year-old defender has agreed a contract running until June 2031, with the move worth €35m including add-ons.
Spurs will receive around €31.5m upfront, with up to €3.5m more available in performance-related bonuses and a 10 per cent sell-on clause included in the deal. Spence is understood to have signed on wages of around €2.5m per season, plus bonuses.
The defender flew into Milan on Thursday night and completed his medical on Friday, passing both the club's tests and those arranged by CONI, the Italian Olympic Committee. With no issues reported, the paperwork was finalised and Inter confirmed the transfer on their official channels.
Spence becomes the second England international to join the Nerazzurri this summer, following John Stones' free-agent move from Manchester City. Both players were part of England's 2026 World Cup campaign, which ended in the semi-finals in Atlanta.
It is a return to Serie A for Spence, who spent six months on loan at Genoa in 2024. Comfortable on either flank, the London-born defender is regarded at Inter as the natural heir to Denzel Dumfries, the right wing-back sold to Real Madrid earlier in the window. Spence celebrated his 26th birthday only last week.
The transfer ends weeks of speculation linking the defender with a move back to Italy, and his versatility gives Inter's coaching staff extra options on both sides of the pitch. He arrives in time to join the squad for the final stretch of pre-season preparations.
