Tamara Korpatsch delivered a commanding performance on home soil to defeat Anna Bondar 6-3, 6-3 in the final of the WTA 250 Hamburg Ladies Open on Sunday, capturing her second career WTA title.
The 31-year-old German, playing in front of an enthusiastic crowd at the Rothenbaum Tennis Centre, dominated from the baseline and never allowed the fourth-seeded Hungarian to find her rhythm. Korpatsch claimed the first set by breaking Bondar's serve in the opening game and dictating rallies with her aggressive groundstrokes.
"I'm incredibly happy," Korpatsch said after the match. "To win at home, in front of this crowd — it's something I will never forget. The support all week has been amazing."
The second set followed a similar pattern, with Korpatsch saving a break point in the fourth game before breaking Bondar's serve to take a 5-3 lead. She then closed out the match in style, breaking Bondar again to seal the victory.
The title is Korpatsch's second on the WTA Tour, following her breakthrough win at Cluj-Napoca in 2023. She had previously reached another final earlier this season in Ostrava. With this result, the Hamburg native climbs to a career-high ranking of No. 46 in the world — the first time she has broken into the top 50.
Korpatsch becomes the first German player to win the Hamburg Ladies Open since the tournament joined the WTA calendar, adding to a memorable week for German tennis at the event.
For Bondar, it was a second consecutive final defeat on German clay, having also lost the Hamburg final in 2025. The Hungarian is still searching for her maiden WTA title after reaching her second career final.
The Hamburg Ladies Open also featured the inaugural Hamburg Wheelchair Open alongside the main draw, with tournament organizers reporting nearly 20,000 visitors across the week.
