Tamara Korpatsch defeated Anna Bondar 6-3, 6-3 in the final of the MSC Hamburg Ladies Open on Sunday, becoming the first German champion at Am Rothenbaum since Steffi Graf completed a run of six straight titles from 1987-92.
The 31-year-old from Hamburg claimed her second career WTA singles title after winning the 2023 Transylvania Open in Cluj-Napoca, adding the home-soil triumph in front of an enthusiastic crowd at the WTA 250 event. The victory also ended a streak of four consecutive runner-up finishes for German players at the tournament since its return to the calendar in 2021.
Korpatsch, seeded fifth, entered the final with a perfect 4-0 head-to-head record against the fourth-seeded Bondar, including three straight-sets wins on clay. That trend held in the biggest match between the two to date. She won the first three games of the match and later closed out the second set by winning five of the last six games, sealing the win in one hour and 28 minutes.
The milestone brings several personal landmarks for Korpatsch. She will break into the WTA Top 50 for the first time in her career when the updated rankings are released on Monday, surpassing her previous career-high of No. 71 set in October 2023.
For Bondar, the defeat extended her wait for a maiden WTA singles title. The Hungarian fell to 0-2 in WTA finals after finishing runner-up in Hamburg for the second consecutive year, having lost to France's Lois Boisson in the 2025 edition.
In the doubles final, the all-Slovenian pair of Dalila Jakupovic and Nika Radisic came from a set down to defeat top seeds Magali Kempen and Alexandra Panova 5-7, 6-3, [10-5], securing Jakupovic her first tour-level doubles title in eight years.
