France staged a stunning second-half fightback to defeat Australia 42-26 in the Nations Championship at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane on Saturday.
The Wallabies led 21-12 at half-time in front of a sold-out crowd, with Fraser McReight crossing twice in the opening period and debutant winger Aaron Grandidier-Nkanang also touching down for the hosts. But Joe Schmidt's side collapsed after the break, conceding 30 unanswered points before a late consolation try from Jeremy Williams.
Aaron Grandidier-Nkanang, Romain Ntamack, Florian Verhaeghe and Théo Attissogbe crossed for France in a dominant second half, while captain Maxime Lucu added three conversions and two penalties for the Six Nations champions. It was France's first victory over the Wallabies at Lang Park and its largest winning margin on Australian soil, as well as a fourth straight win against Australia for the first time in almost 60 years.
