Lecce has raised the alarm for their player Lameck Banda, who has been missing for two weeks. The last sighting was on July 23 at Lusaka airport in Zambia, where he was photographed with his wife. The player did not report for the team's pre-season gathering on July 12 and has not been heard from since.
Sporting director Stefano Trinchera said: "For two weeks now we've had no news of Banda. We are all starting to worry that something might have happened." President Sticchi Damiani added: "In 11 years I've never experienced a situation like this. The player has vanished."
Banda was Lecce's top scorer last season with 5 goals in Serie A, and his prolonged absence is causing serious concern within the Salento club, which has activated all procedures to try to locate him.
