Atletico Madrid have completed the signing of South Korea international Lee Kang-In from Paris Saint-Germain, the La Liga side announced on Saturday.
The 25-year-old attacking midfielder has signed a five-year contract at the Civitas Metropolitano, keeping him at the club until June 2031. While Atletico did not disclose the transfer fee, it is understood to be in the region of €35-40 million ($39.8-45.5 million).
Lee arrives as a direct replacement for Antoine Griezmann, who departed Atletico as the club's all-time leading scorer earlier this summer to join Major League Soccer. The South Korean playmaker will be tasked with filling the creative void left by the French World Cup winner, bringing his vision and final-third quality to Simeone's setup.
Born in Incheon, Lee moved to Spain at the age of 10 to join Valencia's famed academy. He made 62 first-team appearances for Los Che before transferring to Mallorca, where his performances earned him a €22 million move to PSG in 2023. Across two seasons in Paris, he scored 16 goals in 124 appearances in all competitions, showcasing the versatility and technical ability that attracted Atletico's interest.
At the 2026 World Cup, Lee started all three of South Korea's group-stage matches. The Taeguk Warriors were eliminated after losing two of their three group games, but Lee was among the team's standout performers.
Atletico finished fourth in La Liga last season and reached the Copa del Rey final. The addition of Lee is expected to bolster their creative midfield options as they aim to challenge for honours under Simeone in the new campaign.
