Napoli have agreed a deal to sign French centre-back Benoit Badiashile from Chelsea on a loan with an obligation to buy. The Partenopei will pay a €3 million loan fee, with the permanent transfer set at €27 million. No performance bonuses are included in the agreement.
Badiashile, who turned 25 this year, is expected to travel today, Tuesday 18 August, to join Napoli's pre-season training camp. The club is keen to fast-track his integration so that he can be available for the opening Serie A fixture of the season, away at Genoa's Marassi stadium on Saturday 23 August. Manager Massimiliano Allegri has been dealing with absences in central defence and views Badiashile as the profile he needs to stabilise the back line.
The Frenchman's arrival marks the first significant move of Napoli's summer transfer window, following the signing of young winger Costantino Favasuli from Catanzaro, who completed his medical at Villa Stuart in Rome and will sign on loan with an obligation to buy.
