Trackhouse Racing have confirmed that Raul Fernandez will remain with the American squad for the 2027 and 2028 MotoGP seasons, keeping the Spaniard on the Aprilia RS-GP as the championship prepares to switch to its new 850cc regulations. The extension was announced on 5 August, tying down one of the most improved riders on the grid ahead of the sport's biggest technical change in years.
Fernandez has been part of the Trackhouse project since its RNF era in 2023, having joined the team after being dropped by Tech3 KTM the previous year. He stayed with the operation when owner Justin Marks rebranded it as Trackhouse Racing for its MotoGP debut in 2024, and has since grown into a grand prix winner and regular podium threat on the satellite Aprilia. His record with the squad stands at one premier-class victory, two sprint wins and seven further podiums; the 2026 campaign alone has produced sprint victories at Mugello and Assen and three grand prix podiums, including two in his last two races before the announcement.
The renewal also settles part of Trackhouse's 2027 line-up puzzle. Team-mate Ai Ogura is set to leave for Yamaha, which would have forced the American outfit to rebuild both seats at the very moment MotoGP introduces its new regulations. Instead, Fernandez gives the team continuity and a reference point for the 850cc era, with the deal running until the end of the 2028 season - his sixth with the squad.
