Red Bull has confirmed the signing of Gwen Lagrue from Mercedes as director of its junior programme, succeeding Helmut Marko who left the team at the end of 2025.
Lagrue, who spent 11 years at Mercedes, helped discover current F1 championship leader Kimi Antonelli. His experience in talent scouting makes him the ideal candidate to lead the Red Bull Academy, which has produced talents like Sebastian Vettel, Max Verstappen, and Sebastian Buemi.
Lagrue's move to Red Bull represents a significant coup for the Milton Keynes team, which aims to maintain its dominance through young driver development. Helmut Marko, a legendary figure in F1, had been the cornerstone of Red Bull's junior programme for over two decades.
