AS Roma kicked off their pre-season campaign in emphatic fashion on Thursday, dismantling Serie D side Trastevere 6-0 at the club's Trigoria training centre in a behind-closed-doors friendly.
New signing Donyell Malen made an immediate impact on his first appearance of the summer, opening the scoring after just three minutes. The Netherlands international, who featured at the 2026 World Cup, was teed up by fellow summer arrival Devyne Rensch to set the tone for a one-sided contest.
Paulo Dybala doubled Roma's lead midway through the first half, receiving a pass from Bryan Cristante before finishing coolly. Cristante then got on the scoresheet himself, turning home after Malen turned provider. Wesley had earlier struck the woodwork before Luigi Cherubini made it 4-0 after 35 minutes, effectively ending the contest before the interval.
Gian Piero Gasperini changed the entire starting XI for the second half, and the new-look lineup maintained the momentum. Angelino added a fifth with a composed finish, and 17-year-old academy prospect Antonio Arena capped the scoring with a well-taken goal to round off proceedings.
Evan N'Dicka made his first appearance of the campaign in central defence, an encouraging sign for the Giallorossi as they build towards the new Serie A season. Robinio Vaz and Niccolo Pisilli sat out through injury, while Matias Soule was given a rest.
Roma first half: Svilar; Mancini, Ndicka, Hermoso; Rensch, Cristante, Bah, Wesley; Dybala, Cherubini; Malen. Roma second half: Gollini; Ziolkowski, Seck, Ghilardi; Lulli, Giammattei, Panico, Angelino; Camara; Dovbyk, Arena.
The performance will please Gasperini, whose side showed attacking fluidity across both line-ups as the new tactical ideas begin to take shape.
