The decisive administrative conference for AS Roma's new stadium in the Pietralata district has begun, marking the final technical hurdle in a crucial week for Rome's bid to host matches at Euro 2032.
All involved bodies gathered at the headquarters of the Superior Council of Public Works, including Rome's municipal government, the Lazio region, the Metropolitan City authority, and public security officials. Mayor Roberto Gualtieri, Sports Minister Andrea Abodi, Infrastructure Minister Matteo Salvini, and Lazio Region President Francesco Rocca are expected at a press conference later today.
Special Commissioner for Euro 2032 stadiums Massimo Sessa expressed cautious optimism. «The conference is proceeding well, as all institutional events should when there are no predetermined political positions,» Sessa told Radio Roma Sound. «This is an opportunity for a modern vision of an important infrastructure project, like those we saw at the recent World Cup in the United States. We hope to be efficient and fast in meeting the deadlines UEFA has set.»
