Stefanos Tsitsipas captured his first ATP title in 16 months on Sunday, defeating Belgium's Raphael Collignon 6-4, 6-7(3), 6-3 in an absorbing Swiss Open final in Gstaad.
The former world number three and two-time Grand Slam finalist collected the 13th ATP trophy of his career, ending a drought that stretched back to the Dubai Open in March 2025, where he beat Felix Auger-Aliassime in straight sets.
"I would like to start by mentioning how amazing the final was today," said the Greek, who will climb from world No. 85 to No. 55 in the updated rankings on Monday. "It's been a long time so it does mean a lot to me."
Tsitsipas was outstanding on serve throughout the championship match, firing four aces without a single double fault. He won 21 of 29 second-serve points and saved two of the four break points he faced.
The 27-year-old's victory marked his sixth career clay-court title, adding to his Monte Carlo Masters triumphs in 2021, 2022 and 2024. Ranked 42nd in the world, the 24-year-old Collignon was contesting his first ATP final.
Tsitsipas' return to winning ways signals a significant resurgence for the Greek star, who has climbed back inside the top 60 after a challenging period that saw him slip down the rankings. With his confidence restored, he will now turn his attention to the North American hard-court swing and the US Open later this summer.
