Stefanos Tsitsipas captured his first ATP title in 505 days on Sunday, defeating Belgium's Raphael Collignon 6-4, 6-7(3), 6-3 to win the EFG Swiss Open Gstaad.
The Greek, currently ranked No. 85 in the world but a former World No. 3, showed his class on the Swiss clay to claim his 13th career ATP title and his first since triumphing in Dubai in March 2025. It was also his first trophy on clay since Monte Carlo in April 2024 — a gap of over two years on his preferred surface.
Collignon, the 25-year-old Belgian ranked 42nd, pushed Tsitsipas hard in a final that lasted two hours and 18 minutes. After dropping the first set, Collignon fought back to take the second-set tiebreak 7-3. But Tsitsipas responded emphatically. Trailing 2-1 in the deciding set, the Greek reeled off 14 consecutive points and three straight games to seize control, breaking Collignon's resistance with a surge of power and precision from the baseline.
"I've been working hard to get back to this feeling," Tsitsipas said after the match. "The belief never left me, but to hold the trophy again means everything."
The victory in the Swiss Alps marks a significant milestone in Tsitsipas's comeback season. After struggling with form and confidence through much of 2025 and early 2026, dropping outside the Top 50 for the first time in years, the 27-year-old has shown steady signs of recovery in recent weeks. His run through the Gstaad draw — which included wins over Dominic Stricker and Jérôme Kym — suggested his trademark one-handed backhand and explosive court coverage are back to their best.
For Collignon, a first ATP final after a breakthrough season, the defeat will sting, but his performance confirmed his standing as one of the most improved players on the tour.
The ATP 250 event in Gstaad, one of the most scenic stops on the calendar, has now produced its 13th different champion in as many years.
