The USTA has announced the pairs set to compete in the 2026 US Open mixed doubles event, scheduled for August 24-26 during the tournament's opening week. The format, successfully introduced last year, returns with an expanded field that now includes qualifying rounds.
Six pairs gain direct entry by ranking, joined by eight wild-card teams and two more from an eight-pair qualifying draw on Monday August 24. Matches through the semi-finals are best-of-three sets with games to four and deciding point at deuce, while the final is best-of-three with games to six and a standard tie-break at 6-6.
The standout pairing is Novak Djokovic and Aryna Sabalenka, two world No. 1s from different eras teaming up in Flushing Meadows. Defending champions Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori return to defend the title they won last year by defeating Iga Swiatek and Casper Ruud in the final. Swiatek and Ruud are also back as a pair, alongside Elena Rybakina with Taylor Fritz and Mirra Andreeva with Andrey Rublev.
