Virtus Bologna officially sign Wendell Moore Jr. to one-year deal

Virtus Bologna have officially announced the signing of former NBA wing Wendell Moore Jr. on a one-year contract, adding the 24-year-old American guard-forward to their backcourt ahead of the 2026-27 season.

Moore Jr., listed at 1.96 meters, joins the Italian club for his first European experience after spending the past four seasons shuttling between the NBA and G League. The Richmond, Virginia native played three collegiate seasons at Duke, one of college basketball's premier programs, where he averaged 13.4 points, 5.3 rebounds and shot 41.3 percent from three-point range in his junior year — his final NCAA campaign — starting all 39 games.

Selected with the No. 26 overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft by the Houston Rockets, Moore Jr. went on to see NBA action with the Minnesota Timberwolves, Charlotte Hornets and Detroit Pistons. He also logged extensive minutes in the G League with the Iowa Wolves, Maine Celtics and Motor City Cruise, gaining the kind of consistent playing time that accelerated his development.

Last season in the G League, Moore averaged 19.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.3 assists in 30 minutes per game, while shooting 39.1 percent from beyond the arc. Those numbers paint a clear picture — a versatile wing who can create his own shot, space the floor effectively, and contribute as a secondary playmaker.

For Virtus Bologna, the signing adds valuable NBA pedigree and youthful upside to a roster being reshaped for the 2026-27 campaign. The Bianconeri are building toward competing on both the EuroLeague and Serie A fronts, and Moore's combination of size, athleticism and perimeter shooting gives the club another intriguing option on the wing.
