Il Tribunale di Brescia ha dichiarato la liquidazione giudiziale (fallimento) del Brescia Calcio il 28 luglio, giorno del settantesimo compleanno del presidente Massimo Cellino. Un epilogo drammatico per un club fondato 114 anni fa, con una lunga storia tra Serie A e Serie B.
La società era già stata esclusa dai campionati professionistici per inadempienze finanziarie, con un debito complessivo stimato intorno ai 20 milioni di euro. Cellino ha annunciato ricorso, parlando di un errore di interpretazione.
Particolarmente significativa la vicenda legata a Sandro Tonali: i circa 4 milioni di euro che il Brescia avrebbe dovuto ricevere dal fondo di solidarietà per il trasferimento del centrocampista al Tottenham finiranno invece a un fondo FIFA. Un ulteriore duro colpo per le casse del club.
Il Brescia ripartirà probabilmente dalla Serie D con una nuova società, seguendo il triste copione di altri storici club italiani costretti a ripartire dai dilettanti dopo il fallimento.

The Court of Brescia declared the judicial liquidation (bankruptcy) of Brescia Calcio on July 28, the 70th birthday of president Massimo Cellino. A dramatic epilogue for a club founded 114 years ago, with a long history between Serie A and Serie B.
The club had already been excluded from professional leagues for financial non-compliance, with total debt estimated at around €20 million. Cellino announced an appeal, citing an error of interpretation.
Particularly significant is the Sandro Tonali matter: the approximately €4 million that Brescia should have received from the solidarity fund for the midfielder's transfer to Tottenham will instead go to a FIFA fund — another heavy blow for the club's finances.
Brescia will likely restart from Serie D with a new entity, following the sad pattern of other historic Italian clubs forced to restart from amateur levels after bankruptcy.
