Alexander Bublik will skip the Cincinnati Masters 1000 again this year to stay with his son for his birthday. The Kazakh player hasn't played the Ohio tournament since 2021.
"I've been skipping this tournament for four years now," Bublik told journalist Ben Rothenberg. "That week is my son's birthday and I don't think Cincinnati is worth missing such important moments in my life."
A life choice that makes one think, in a professional tennis world often dominated by tight schedules and commercial pressures. Bublik, known for his non-conformist character, has always put family first.
