Bad news for Napoli fans. New coach Massimiliano Allegri was forced to cancel the public presentation event scheduled for the evening of July 21 in Dimaro, the pre-season training camp location, due to a sudden illness.
Allegri, who was meant to answer questions from fans alongside his staff, also did not attend today's training session, leaving his assistant to run practice. The Tuscan coach, officially presented on July 14 at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples in the presence of president Aurelio De Laurentiis, is suffering from flu-like symptoms.
The fan meeting was supposed to be his first public appearance since his official unveiling. According to initial reports, Allegri should return to the field by Wednesday, unless his condition requires a longer recovery. Meanwhile, Napoli continues its summer preparation with a 4-3-3 formation and has a friendly match scheduled against Arezzo on Wednesday evening.
