Kevin De Bruyne and Napoli are set to go their separate ways after just one season, with intermediaries already tasked with finding a new club for the Belgian midfielder in either Turkey or Saudi Arabia.
The 35-year-old joined Napoli on a free transfer from Manchester City last summer, opting for a lifestyle move to Serie A. But what was meant to be a gentle wind-down of a glittering career quickly turned sour. A serious injury sidelined De Bruyne for months, and upon his return he made little secret of his frustration with Antonio Conte's ultra-defensive approach. The subsequent arrival of Max Allegri — a coach whose philosophy is even more conservatively geared — only compounded the sense of mismatch.
According to reports from L'Equipe, cited by Football Italia, intermediaries have now been instructed to sound out potential destinations. Galatasaray had already registered interest, and there is also appetite from Saudi Pro League clubs. De Bruyne's current contract with Napoli runs until June 2027, with a club option for an additional year, but the partenopei are said to be willing to let him leave for a nominal fee simply to free up his wages.
