Atlanta Dream forward Angel Reese exited Sunday's 93-91 victory over the Chicago Sky after suffering a left leg injury late in the fourth quarter. The incident occurred when Reese's knee buckled as she came to a jump stop under the basket, causing her to fall to the floor after missing a layup.
Reese initially rose quickly but collapsed again seconds later, prompting the Dream's medical staff to rush to her side. She was able to return to the bench but was immediately ruled out for the remainder of the contest.
"It's hard because we're in the timeout. It seemed like a really long timeout and there wasn't a lot being said because we were all just looking at Angel," Dream head coach Karl Smesko said after the game. "When I was looking at her, it seemed like she was in a lot of pain, and she wanted to go out there and keep playing because she's competitive and she wants to win the game. I just didn't feel comfortable with it because she looked like she was in a lot of pain."
