Alejandro Garnacho is set to complete a move to Aston Villa on loan with a conditional obligation to buy, bringing an end to weeks of speculation linking the Chelsea winger with a switch to Serie A.
According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, the Argentine has already undergone his medical and is in Birmingham to sign the final paperwork. When the deal becomes permanent, Garnacho will put pen to paper on a four-year contract with the Villans.
Roma, Napoli and Milan had all expressed interest in the 22-year-old former Manchester United forward during the summer transfer window. However, his wage demands always represented a significant obstacle for the Italian clubs, who were ultimately priced out of the race.
Garnacho joined Chelsea from Manchester United last summer in a high-profile move, but after just one season at Stamford Bridge he is already on the move again. Villa have moved swiftly to secure his services, beating out competition from the Premier League as well as Serie A.
The Argentina international made 38 appearances across all competitions for Chelsea last season, contributing 7 goals and 5 assists. For Roma, the failure to land Garnacho compounds a difficult week.
