Maurizio Sarri's Atalanta staged a second-half comeback to win their first summer friendly 3-2 against Arezzo after falling 2-0 behind in the opening eight minutes.
The nerazzurri started in the worst possible way: Alessandro Arena and Illanes scored in quick succession to give the Tuscan side a two-goal lead. The response came after the break. Ibrahim Sulemana brought the team back into the game, assisted by Nikola Krstovic. Then Ederson, coming off the bench, equalised on the counter-attack. Krstovic then completed the comeback with the winning goal.
For Ederson this is an important response on the pitch: the Brazilian midfielder had been close to a move to Manchester United worth around €45 million, but the deal fell through due to a failed medical. Atalanta had insisted there was no long-term knee damage.
