Besiktas have lost patience with Dusan Vlahovic and are preparing to give the free-agent striker a firm deadline to accept their contract offer, sources in Turkey have revealed.
The Turkish Super Lig club, who view the former Juventus frontman as a marquee opportunistic signing following his departure from Turin, have grown increasingly frustrated by the Serbian's drawn-out deliberation. According to Turkish outlet Medya Siyah Beyaz, the Besiktas hierarchy — led by president Serdal Adalı — is unhappy with what they perceive as stalling tactics from Vlahovic's camp.
The 26-year-old Serbia international became a free agent at the end of June after Juventus opted not to renew his contract, ending a three-year spell in black and white that yielded 43 goals in 108 appearances across all competitions. Vlahovic arrived in Turin with immense promise from Fiorentina in January 2022 for a fee of around €80 million, but struggled for consistency amid the club's broader instability.
Reports in the Italian press suggesting Vlahovic and his representatives are waiting for offers from Europe's elite clubs have particularly irked the Besiktas board. The club's management believes those rumours are complicating their own recruitment drive, especially with a Europa League second qualifying round tie against Danish side Midtjylland on the horizon.
Besiktas' response, according to the reports, will be to schedule another meeting with the player's representatives in the coming days and clearly communicate a validity period on their existing proposal. If no positive response arrives within that window, the Istanbul giants are prepared to walk away entirely and redirect their focus to alternative striking targets.
The club's determination to resolve the situation quickly reflects the urgency of their summer rebuild — with both domestic league commitments and European competition fixtures looming, Besiktas cannot afford to leave their centre-forward position unresolved deep into the transfer window.
