Besiktas have officially announced the signing of American point guard David DeJulius, with the 1999-born playmaker joining from Spanish club Murcia for the new season. Listed at 1.83 metres, DeJulius becomes the latest addition to the Istanbul side's backcourt as they shape their roster for the upcoming campaign.
DeJulius arrives on the back of a standout individual campaign in Spain's Liga Endesa. Last season with Murcia he averaged 17.7 points per game, finishing second in the league's scoring race and earning a spot in the All-League First Team — numbers that underline his reputation as one of the competition's most productive guards. His ability to create shots for himself and for team-mates made him the focal point of Murcia's offence, with a large share of possessions running through him during the season.
The American started his college career at Michigan and completed it at Cincinnati before turning professional in 2023. Since then he has played in three European countries: Greece with Lavrio and later Aris, Israel with Maccabi and Spain with Murcia. His Liga Endesa campaign last season marked the high point of that development, as he finished second in the scoring charts and earned a place in the league's first team, an achievement that drew interest from several clubs across Europe.
