American rider Brandon McNulty (UAE Emirates XRG, teammate of race leader Tadej Pogačar) was the victim of a road rage incident while travelling to the start of stage 16, an individual time trial at the 2026 Tour de France.
Team CEO Mauro Gianetti told Eurosport that a motorist overtook McNulty aggressively, then stopped abruptly in front of him. The American rider was unable to avoid the collision and hit the car.
"Nothing so big, but it was not nice," Gianetti said. Fortunately McNulty was unhurt and was able to start the time trial as scheduled, completing the stage without any physical consequences.
