ARLINGTON, Texas — Breanna Stewart delivered a near-triple-double with 33 points, 13 rebounds and eight assists, Sabrina Ionescu scored 12 of her 21 points in overtime, and the New York Liberty snapped a four-game losing streak with a dramatic 99-98 road win over the short-handed Dallas Wings on Monday night.
New York managed only nine points in the third quarter and trailed by as many as 12 points in the frame, before exploding for 24 in the fourth to force overtime. Ionescu took over in the extra period, going a perfect 5-for-5 from the field to give the Liberty a 97-93 lead with 1:20 remaining.
Arike Ogunbowale responded with a three-pointer to cut the deficit to 99-98 with 27.5 seconds left. After a New York shot-clock violation, Dallas had one final opportunity, but Ogunbowale's bank shot from close range bounced hard off the rim as time expired.
Ogunbowale finished with a game-high 29 points for Dallas (17-9), whose franchise-record six-game winning streak came to an end. Jessica Shepard recorded her league-leading 17th double-double with 13 points and 16 rebounds, tying Atlanta's Angel Reese for most in the WNBA this season.
Dallas was without star guard Paige Bueckers, last season's Rookie of the Year, who missed the game after hitting her head on the floor during Sunday's win over the Los Angeles Sparks. The team said she is not in concussion protocol but remains sore.
Jonquel Jones added 14 points and 10 rebounds for New York (14-12), while Marine Fauthoux also posted a double-double with 10 points and 10 boards. The game had been rescheduled from Thursday after the Liberty's charter flight experienced mechanical issues.
