Caitlin Clark delivered a vintage performance on Wednesday night, racking up 27 points and 11 assists as the Indiana Fever dismantled the Connecticut Sun 123-88, setting a franchise record for points in a single game.
The Fever's 123 points also represented the third-highest scoring total in WNBA history without overtime. Indiana shot a blistering 62% from the field, including 11-of-22 from three-point range, and built a 70-46 halftime lead — the largest half in franchise history.
Kelsey Mitchell continued her scorching run, pouring in 23 points with three three-pointers. It marked her 10th consecutive game with at least 20 points and multiple three-pointers, tying a WNBA record for sustained scoring efficiency. Aliyah Boston added 22 points on efficient shooting, while Monique Billings and Tyasha Harris each chipped in 12.
Clark was electric from the opening tip. She scored 11 points on 4-of-4 shooting — including three triples — in the first 4½ minutes, adding two assists as the Fever jumped out to a 17-11 lead. Mitchell also scored 11 in the opening quarter, and Indiana led 36-26 after one. Clark knocked down two more threes in the second and had 21 points by halftime.
The game featured a tense moment late in the third quarter when Clark engaged in a verbal exchange with Connecticut's Saniya Rivers. Both players were assessed technical fouls. It was Clark's seventh technical of the season; one more will trigger an automatic one-game suspension. Indiana has 17 regular-season games remaining.
Diamond Miller led the Sun with 15 points, while Rivers added 13. Olivia Nelson-Ododa scored 11, and three other Connecticut players finished with 10 points apiece. The Sun (7-20) were without Aaliyah Edwards and Brittney Griner.
The Fever (17-10) head into the All-Star break riding a three-game winning streak. They resume action Tuesday at Seattle, while the Sun continue their six-game road trip at Washington.
