INDIANAPOLIS — Caitlin Clark poured in 27 points and dished 11 assists as the Indiana Fever obliterated the Connecticut Sun 123-88 on Wednesday night, setting a franchise scoring record in one of the most dominant offensive performances in WNBA history.
The Fever's 123 points were the most ever by the franchise in a single game and the third-highest total in league history without overtime. Indiana shot a blistering 62 percent from the field and knocked down 11 of 22 three-pointers, racing to a 70-46 halftime lead — the largest halftime margin in franchise history.
Kelsey Mitchell backed Clark with 23 points, drilling three triples to extend her remarkable streak to 10 consecutive games with at least 20 points and three made three-pointers. Aliyah Boston contributed 22 points on efficient shooting, while Monique Billings and Tyasha Harris each added 12 points off the bench.
Clark ignited the Fever from the opening tip, scoring 11 points on a perfect 4-of-4 shooting — including three triples — in the first 4½ minutes. She had 21 points by halftime and finished with her seventh double-double of the season, adding five three-pointers.
"I thought we came out with incredible energy and focus," Clark said after the game. "When we share the ball and get stops, we're really tough to beat."
The Fever (17-10) head into the WNBA All-Star break riding a three-game winning streak and sitting comfortably in playoff position. Indiana's offense has been on a tear, averaging over 105 points over the past five games.
The Sun (7-20), missing starters Aaliyah Edwards and Brittney Griner, struggled to contain Indiana's multi-pronged attack. Diamond Miller led Connecticut with 15 points, while Saniya Rivers added 13 and Olivia Nelson-Ododa chipped in 11.
A heated moment came late in the third quarter when Clark and Rivers exchanged words and were assessed technical fouls. The incident marked Clark's seventh technical of the season; one more would trigger an automatic one-game suspension with 17 games remaining in the regular season.
Connecticut continues its six-game road trip at Washington next Tuesday, while Indiana opens a three-game West Coast swing at Seattle after the All-Star break.
