Dubai Basketball have completed the signing of Lithuanian-German forward Simonas Lukosius on a long-term contract, the club announced on Tuesday. The 24-year-old will immediately join Spanish side Unicaja Malaga on loan for the 2026-27 season as part of a development plan that keeps him in Dubai's long-term vision.
Lukosius arrives on the back of a breakout campaign with Rytas Vilnius, where he played a pivotal role in the Lithuanian club's Basketball Champions League triumph. He averaged 8.3 points across 16 BCL appearances while shooting an exceptional 51 percent from three-point range. His best performance came in the Final, where he poured in 23 points and connected on seven three-pointers to seal the trophy and earn Final Four MVP honors.
In domestic competition, the two-metre wing posted 6.5 points and 2.4 rebounds over 31 Lithuanian League appearances. Lukosius developed in the United States, spending two seasons at Butler University before completing his NCAA career at the University of Cincinnati. He subsequently returned to Europe with Rytas and has also represented the German national team at international level.
