Four teams will field rookie drivers in first practice for the Hungarian Grand Prix this weekend, with reserve and development talent stepping in for the final session before Formula 1's mandated summer shutdown.
Leonardo Fornaroli will replace Oscar Piastri at McLaren, giving the Italian reserve driver his second FP1 appearance of the season. Colton Herta steps in for Valtteri Bottas at Cadillac, continuing the American IndyCar star's march toward a full F1 seat. At Haas, Oliver Bearman moves aside for Japanese veteran Ryo Hirakawa, while Paul Aron replaces Franco Colapinto at Alpine.
McLaren team principal Andrea Stella said the team is looking for further FP1 opportunities for Fornaroli, with a chance he could enjoy two more outings if reserve driver Pato O'Ward is released from his F1 duties. Herta previously drove in Barcelona earlier this year, replacing Sergio Perez.
