Gattuso, 48, returns to club management after a brief and difficult stint in charge of the Italian national team. He resigned in April 2026, days after the Azzurri failed to qualify for a third consecutive FIFA World Cup — a devastating blow for a four-time champion that has now missed the last three editions of the tournament. Italy's playoff defeat to Bosnia in March sealed their fate and prompted Gattuso's departure.
