Lorenzo Musetti, Matteo Arnaldi, and Luciano Darderi lead the Italian charge across the ATP Tour this week, while Jasmine Paolini and Lucrezia Stefanini are sidelined with injuries during the first American hard-court swing of the season.
Musetti and Arnaldi are both in the ATP 500 Washington draw, where they are set for an all-Italian first-round clash at the William H.G. FitzGerald Tennis Center. Musetti is making his return from a right femoral injury, while Arnaldi is seeded 34th in the 32-player field. Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori are also competing in the doubles draw in Washington.
Darderi, meanwhile, is the second seed at the ATP 250 Los Cabos in Mexico. The Italian arrives from Estoril where he reached the quarterfinals before falling to Alexander Blockx. Darderi receives a bye in the first round and could face defending champion Denis Shapovalov in the quarterfinals. Jiri Lehecka is the top seed in Los Cabos, with Francisco Cerundolo seeded third and Karen Khachanov fourth.
