Juventus have announced the mutual termination of Arthur Melo's contract, bringing to an end a six-year spell that stands among the most heavily scrutinised investments in the club's recent history. The Brazilian midfielder, who returned to Turin this summer following his latest loan spell at Gremio, leaves without having made a single competitive appearance for the Bianconeri since the 2021-22 campaign.
The club confirmed the decision through its official channels and in a statement, reported by the Italian press, that the operation generates a negative economic impact of approximately 6 million euros as a result of adjusting the net book value of the player's registration rights. It closes the door on a relationship that began in the summer of 2020, when Juventus signed Arthur from Barcelona in a high-profile player-plus-cash swap involving Miralem Pjanic, worth more than 70 million euros in total.
During his time in Turin, Arthur made 63 appearances across all competitions, scoring one goal and providing one assist. After early struggles, the midfielder was loaned out on several occasions to Liverpool, Fiorentina, Girona and, most recently, Gremio, though none of those clubs made the move permanent. Back in the squad over the summer, he was nonetheless deemed surplus to requirements, leading to the decision to part ways for good.
