SEATTLE — Kayla McBride drained six 3-pointers and poured in 33 points, rookie Olivia Miles delivered a near-triple-double with 32 points, eight rebounds and eight assists, and the Minnesota Lynx defeated the Seattle Storm 105-102 on Monday night to extend their winning streak to six games.
The trio of McBride, Miles and Courtney Williams accounted for 30 of Minnesota's 37 field goals. The three guards also went a perfect 18-for-18 from the free-throw line, a display of composure that proved decisive in a game that featured 10 lead changes.
Williams contributed 21 points, while Natasha Howard grabbed 12 rebounds and added three steals for the Lynx (21-6), who now hold the best record in the WNBA.
Flau'jae Johnson led Seattle (6-22) with 26 points, including five 3-pointers. Zia Cooke provided a spark off the bench with 18 points, and Natisha Hiedeman registered a double-double with 12 points and 10 assists.
The game swung in the final seconds. With the Lynx clinging to a one-point lead, Howard poked away Seattle's inbound pass, sending possession back to Minnesota. McBride calmly sank two free throws to stretch the lead to 103-100. After a Storm score, Williams iced the game with two more free throws with four seconds remaining. Seattle had one final look — a wide-open three for Johnson — but the shot rimmed out as time expired.
The Lynx have now won six straight and 10 of their last 11, cementing their status as the league's powerhouse. The same two teams meet again Wednesday in Seattle for the second game of the back-to-back series.
