Kelsey Mitchell sets WNBA single-season record for 20-point games as Fever edge Sky 90-86

Kelsey Mitchell scored 27 points to set a WNBA single-season record with her 16th consecutive 20-point game, and Caitlin Clark added 26 points and 11 assists as the Indiana Fever beat the Chicago Sky 90-86 on Saturday in Chicago.

Mitchell, who shot 11-of-22 from the floor including three 3-pointers, moved past the previous single-season benchmark and now has her sights on the league's overall mark: A'ja Wilson's run of 20 straight 20-point games for the Las Vegas Aces, which spanned two seasons.

Clark produced another landmark line of her own, finishing with at least 25 points, 10 assists and five 3-pointers for the eighth time in her career — a feat only four other players in league history have managed even once. The Fever guard also learned that the technical foul called against her during the game, after inadvertent contact with an official, had been rescinded by the league. Had it stood, it would have been her eighth of the season and triggered an automatic one-game suspension; she will be available when Indiana hosts the New York Liberty on Tuesday.

The Fever, now 20-12, leaned on Aliyah Boston (13 points, 11 rebounds) and Makayla Timpson (10 points). Natasha Cloud and reserve Rachel Banham each scored 17 for the Sky, while Kamilla Cardoso added 14 points and nine rebounds.

The night was not without controversy. Chicago's DiJonai Carrington was ejected in the first quarter after being called for a Flagrant 2 foul on Sophie Cunningham, and later posted "WHITE PRIVILEGE" on social media while tagging the Fever.

Indiana turned a tie game into a 46-33 lead with a 13-0 second-quarter run and led 53-42 at the half. The Sky cut the deficit late — Jacy Sheldon's 3-pointer made it 89-86 with 28 seconds left — but Clark sank a free throw with 10 seconds to play to seal the final margin.
