LeBron James has chosen Philadelphia. Twelve years after Joel Embiid's almost naive tweet — "@KingJames hey bro hope you're having a good day... Want to join us in philly?? Peace" — the four-time NBA champion and all-time scoring leader is joining the 76ers on a two-year veterans' minimum deal worth approximately $3.9 million per season.
James, who turns 42 in December, joins a formidable starting lineup featuring league MVP Joel Embiid, All-Stars Tyrese Maxey and Jaylen Brown — the 2024 NBA Finals MVP acquired in a blockbuster trade from Boston — and promising second-year standout VJ Edgecombe.
"This is my last challenge," James said. He would become the first player in NBA history to win championships with four different franchises, having previously won with Cleveland, Miami and the Los Angeles Lakers.
