Cucine Lube Civitanova have secured the future of club captain Fabio Balaso, announcing on Monday that the Italian international libero has extended his contract with the SuperLega club through 2029.
The renewal, agreed on the eve of Balaso's ninth season in Civitanova Marche, ends all transfer speculation around the player, whose previous four-year deal was due to expire in 2027. The 1995-born Veneto native had been linked with a move away during the last SuperLega campaign, but the two-time world champion has now committed his long-term future to the biancorossi.
Balaso joined Lube from Padova in 2018-19 after beginning his career in his hometown, climbing from Serie A2 to the SuperLega. His trophy haul with the Marche club is formidable: the Champions League and Club World Championship in 2019, three Coppa Italia titles (2020, 2021, 2025) and three Italian league titles (2019, 2021, 2022). At international level he has won two world titles with Italy (2022 and 2025), the European Championship in 2021 and gold at the 2018 Mediterranean Games, and he returns to Civitanova fresh from the Volleyball Nations League with the national team.
