Matt Richardson, Olympic silver medalist in track cycling for Great Britain, has been forced to miss the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow following a crash at the World Series keirin event in Japan.
Richardson, 27, was the reigning men's sprint champion — a title he won for Australia at Birmingham 2022 — and had been racing for Great Britain this year after switching national allegiance. His injury denies fans one of the most anticipated storylines of the competition: the showdown between Richardson and his former Australian teammates.
