A third-place finish for Lando Norris and fourth for Oscar Piastri at Marina Bay gave the Woking squad an unassailable lead in the standings with six rounds of the season still to run, matching the mark set by Red Bull in 2023. George Russell took victory for Mercedes under the lights, but the night belonged to McLaren, who had missed their first chance to seal the deal in Azerbaijan a fortnight earlier after a difficult weekend in Baku.
The crown takes McLaren clear of Williams on the all-time constructors' list, leaving only Ferrari, with 16 titles, above them. The celebrations, however, were tinged with tension between their two drivers, who remain locked in their own battle for the drivers' championship. Piastri holds a 22-point advantage over Norris at the top of the standings, with Red Bull's Max Verstappen 63 points adrift.
