Trackhouse Racing's Raul Fernandez led from the opening lap to win the British Grand Prix at Silverstone on Sunday, taking his second MotoGP victory and heading an all-Aprilia podium in a crash-filled race.
The 25-year-old Spaniard, who crashed out of Saturday's sprint, was never headed once the lights went out. Championship leader Jorge Martin started from pole but hit trouble at Turn One, dropping as low as fourth before recovering to finish second, 2.538 seconds behind the winner. Marco Bezzecchi completed the Aprilia 1-2-3 a further 0.855 seconds back, with Alex Marquez the best of the Ducatis in fourth for Gresini.
The result extends Silverstone's remarkable run of 12 different winners in 12 MotoGP grands prix at the circuit and gives Fernandez his first victory since the Australian Grand Prix last year. Martin, despite the defeat, stretched his championship lead to 31 points.
