Carlos Espí is officially a Real Madrid player. The club announced the signing on its website, ending the speculation that had linked the young Spanish forward with Lazio, Fiorentina and Bologna: Espí will be tied to Los Blancos for the next five seasons.
"Real Madrid CF and Levante UD have reached an agreement for the transfer of Carlos Espí, who will be linked to our club for the next five seasons, until 30 June 2031," the official statement read. "At just 21 years old, Carlos Espí has three seasons at Levante behind him, during which he has played 66 matches and scored 20 goals. Last season he was named the league's best Under-23 player. Carlos Espí is a player of the Spanish Under-19 and Under-20 national teams."
The deal brings one of the summer's longest-running transfer stories to a close: the forward, born in 2004 and developed in Levante's youth system, had been linked with several Italian and Spanish clubs in recent weeks, but has chosen Real Madrid, who have secured him on a long-term contract.
