The future of Julián Álvarez continues to make headlines, and a significant development has now arrived: the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has opened a file on Barcelona following the complaint lodged by Atletico Madrid on 30 June.
An extraordinary disciplinary procedure is underway, and both clubs must now present their defence submissions. Atletico allege that the Catalan club initiated unauthorised contact to sign the Argentine striker outside the periods permitted by the regulations, given that the 26-year-old is tied to Atletico with a contract valid until June 2030.
Atletico Madrid had previously announced its intention to take the matter to the competent bodies. A month after the complaint, the federation has officially notified the parties involved of the case's opening.
