Real Madrid have completed the signing of American center Damian Jones on a deal that runs through the end of the 2026-27 EuroLeague season, the club confirmed on August 28.
Jones, 31, arrives at the Spanish capital as a two-time NBA champion, having won back-to-back titles with the Golden State Warriors in 2017 and 2018. The 2.08-meter center brings extensive NBA experience to Madrid's frontcourt, having played 293 games across seven franchises: the Warriors, Atlanta Hawks, Sacramento Kings, Phoenix Suns, Los Angeles Lakers, Utah Jazz and Cleveland Cavaliers. Over his NBA career, Jones averaged 4.9 points, 3.1 rebounds and 0.7 blocks in 13.7 minutes per game while shooting 66 percent from the field.
The move to Madrid comes on the back of a productive spell in Puerto Rico, where Jones helped Vaqueros de Bayamón capture the national league title. In 10 appearances for the club, the center posted averages of 13.0 points, 5.7 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 2.5 blocks per game — numbers that underlined his readiness for a return to elite-level competition.
Jones is the seventh addition to a Real Madrid roster that has undergone significant turnover this summer under new head coach Pedro Martinez. The club has already brought in Jaime Pradilla, Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot, Mikael Jantunen, Max Shulga, Olivier Sarr and Eli Ndiaye, while saying goodbye to Omer Yurtseven, Mady Sissoko, Trey Lyles, Mario Hezonja and several others.
For Real Madrid, the signing of Jones provides a physically imposing interior presence alongside the club's existing options in the paint. With a demanding schedule that includes both the Spanish ACB League and the EuroLeague, the depth that Jones adds to the frontcourt could prove vital as the season progresses.
The announcement marks another chapter in a busy summer for the 11-time EuroLeague champions, who are looking to return to the continent's biggest stage after a transitional period.
