Riga FC edged Ararat-Armenia 3-2 at home in the second leg of the Champions League first qualifying round, yet it was the Armenian side that advanced to the second qualifying round on a 4-3 aggregate.
After a 2-0 first-leg defeat in Armenia, Riga threw everything at the return in Latvia and came out on top on the night with three goals. But Ararat-Armenia's two away goals from the opening leg proved enough to carry the tie 4-3 on aggregate and into the next stage of European football's top club competition.
Ararat-Armenia now await the second qualifying round draw as they chase a deeper run in this season's Champions League.
