Roma have pulled out of the race to sign Crysencio Summerville after Al-Hilal submitted an extraordinary offer worth up to €80m for the West Ham United winger, according to [Football Italia](https://football-italia.net/roma-surrender-summerville-to-al-hilal-e80m/).
The Giallorossi had been on the verge of finalising the deal at just under €50m including add-ons, with Summerville poised to sign a contract worth €4m per season. However, Simone Inzaghi's Al-Hilal dramatically intervened with a proposal that blew Roma's offer out of the water both in terms of the transfer fee and personal terms.
The Athletic reports that the total package is worth €80m (£68.23m), with a medical already being scheduled with the Saudi Pro League club. Al-Hilal's interest was first reported by Sacha Tavolieri on July 14, who indicated a €60m plus €5m add-ons valuation. The Saudi club, managed by former Inter and Lazio coach Simone Inzaghi, has been aggressively pursuing top talent as they aim to build a squad capable of competing on multiple fronts.
For Roma, the setback represents another difficult moment in an already challenging summer transfer window. The club had identified Summerville as their primary attacking target after his impressive performances for West Ham and the Dutch national team. With the Dutchman now heading to the Middle East, sporting director Florent Ghisolfi will need to turn to alternative targets to reinforce the attack under new coach Gian Piero Gasperini.
